March is one of our favourite months of the year - the Spring flowers begin to add splashes of colour to the Winter countryside and the evenings are getting lighter. Summer really is just around the corner!
What better time to leave work on a Friday and head down to the coast for some serious R & R? You'll be settled into your luxury apartment by sunset, drinking a glass of something sparkling and watching the sea crash onto the white sands of Treyarnon Bay.
But what else is going on in March for you to do during your stay?
Plenty! As well as the World Pasty Championships there are Spring flower festivals, sunset walks along the beach and leisurely lunches overlooking a Cornish harbour.
Here are some of our favourite things to do in Cornwall in March:
World Pasty Championships
Eden Project near St Austell
What do you mean you've never heard of the World Pasty Championships?
This quirky event celebrates the history and diversity of the famous Cornish pasty, with chefs and bakers coming together from around the world to show off their crimping skills.
St Piran's Day celebrations
Various locations throughout Cornwall
St Piran's Day is the national day of Cornwall. It's named after one of the county's patron saints, who is also the patron saint of tin miners. The day is marked with parades through many of the towns' streets while Cornish music and singing can be heard throughout the county.
If you visit in early March, expect to see plenty of Cornish flags throughout the towns and villages!
West Cornwall Spring Flower Show
Marazion near Penzance
This informal event is a great opportunity to view the magnificent displays of Spring flowers grown in the mild mico-climate of West Cornwall.
Stargazing at Trerice
Mid-March, Near Newquay
See the night skies in a whole new light with the specialist team at National Trust Trerice near Newquay.
They bring the telescopes and the expertise, you bring the enthusiasm and something warm to wear! Event runs from 18:30-21:00.
Cotehele House near Saltash
One of the best things about Spring - the daffs! Wander among the thick fields of daffodils grown on the National Trust's historic Cotehele estate and even take some home with you.
There will be daffodil sculptures (who knew they're a thing?!), a mix of new and old varieties on display, as well as guided garden tours.
Falmouth Spring Flower Show
Princess Pavilion, Falmouth
Dating back to 1910, this historic festival brings an explosion of colour to Princess Pavilion in Falmouth, as exhibitors show off a wide variety of rare and tender plants, flower arrangements and more.
The seaside town of Falmouth also joins in the fun, with an explosion of colour and events in the streets.
So if the grey mornings and dark evenings are starting to get you down, look ahead to warmer days, blue skies and milder temperatures by planning your break away.
You won't be short of things to do in Cornwall in March.
