7 reasons to visit Cornwall in June

The Summer is just on the horizon, the Winter boots have been stuffed in the hall cupboard until the weather changes and you’ve already been caught out by an unexpectedly hot weekend in the Spring which left you with a red nose….

Time to embrace Spring and Summer!

If you’re still sitting on the fence about where to go, here are seven reasons you absolutely have to add Cornwall to your travel plans this June.

Reasons to visit Cornwall in June

1. The Royal Cornwall Show

This is one of the must-see events of the year in Cornwall – you might know it’s one of the oldest and largest agricultural shows, but you might not know it’s not just agriculture and farm animals.

There’s the stunt displays in the central ring, the dog-shows, the fairground with all its colourful and crazy rides, the food marquees overflowing with mouth-watering flavours and smells – mmm – and the man who carves impressive sculptures out of huge pieces of wood…

Definitely worth a visit.

2. Over 12 hours of sunshine on average every day

The sunshine normally books a spot in Cornwall during June, making an appearance for around 12 hours a day on average, so you’ll need the sun-cream and a hat.

The sea temperature is still a cool 13 degrees so maybe hold fire on taking a dip…. settle for a paddle instead.

3. Strawberries and raspberries are in season

There’s no better time to tuck into fresh juicy berries than June, and where better to enjoy them than on the beach, served with clotted cream and a glass of something sparkling.

4. It’s quiet

The beaches, the coastal paths, the Michelin-starred restaurants – all great reasons to visit Cornwall any time of year – but they can be slightly less fun when you’re sharing them with another 1,000 people.

June is the perfect time to visit when the peak six weeks are still a dot on the horizon…

5. Treat Dad to real Cornish Ale this Fathers’ Day

It’s the same very year – what should you buy the man who has everything this Fathers’ Day?

A trip to Cornwall and a pint of Cornish ale in a pub on the beach isn’t a bad gift….

6. Avoid the World Cup

I know, I know – some people count down the days to the FIFA World Cup and the cricket one-day internationals… but if you’re not one of those people, the constant commentary can be a touch tedious.

Take the opportunity to get away from the yelling and throwing things at the telly with a sport-free break in Cornwall.

7. Open air soirees

You’ve been itching to dine al fresco since that sunny day in April – and now the weather is warming up and the sun is shining you can finally give in to those cravings and indulge in an evening meal outside.

Tempted? You’ve earned a break away – 2018 is flying by so make June count by treating yourself and the family to a few nights away by the sea – the beer’s cold, the sun’s booked and there’s the perfect holiday apartment just waiting for you….
